Media and Web Page
With Pete’s Hobby Railway having received the approval of Junee Shire Council (see Progress Report No. 10), and in view of the local interest shown in the project, I considered that the time was now opportune to give it some publicity.
A Media Release was prepared and sent to the local Junee Southern Cross newspaper on Monday 4/7. While it missed being included in that week’s edition, an illustrated report did appear in the Wagga Daily Advertiser, both in the print edition of Friday 8/7 (see image below) and also on-line. I anticipate that larger coverage will be included in this week’s Junee Southern Cross. Because of the anticipated unloading difficulties covered in the two previous Progress Reports, I did not consider it desirable to have local television news coverage. Wider coverage is anticipated (when I have the time!) as construction progresses and Pete’s Hobby Railway becomes operational.

I had invited well-known railway journalist Leon Oberg to be present at the Goulburn loading. As a result, Leon has prepared an illustrated feature which should be appearing in the next issue of the quarterly rail industry journal Track + Signal as well as coverage in the globally circulating UK-based e-line magazine Railway Herald.
Thanks to the background support of Nicholas Pyers, Pete’s Hobby Railway now has its own web page which can be accessed at www.peteshobbyrailway.club. While the web page is basically an illustrated combination of the various Progress Reports (slightly modified for public consumption), other information is also included. The web site is by no means complete, with detailed information on the locomotives and rolling stock under a separate heading still to be compiled and added. As at today (Sunday 10/7), there have been a total of 1,561 viewings, including a record of 651 hits on Friday 8/6! Thank you Nick for your continuing involvement with the web page, I do indeed appreciate it.
