‘Old-fashioned engineering’ alive and well

The October-December 2016 issue (Vol 20, No 4) of Track + Signal magazine has a three page article, written by Leon Oberg, entitled “‘Old-fashioned engineering’ alive and well” that covers the restoration work K & H Ainsworth Engineering performed on the Hunslet steam locomotive, Ruston diesel and carriage.

For Ken Ainsworth the exercise was simply indulging in “old-fashioned engineering practices”, whilst for myself, I now have a “as-new” locomotive for use on the 600m-long hobby railway currently under construction around my small acreage in Junee, NSW.
